Reflected Lines

This project began as a town-wide haiku installation following the devastating summer floods of 2012 in Hebden Bridge. I wanted to offer something small but human, and truly artistic, in the wake of so much disruption. Each piece was written specifically for the shop or space in which it appeared, offering moments of kindness, imagination and connection to be encountered in the ordinary course of a day, as the town and its community found their feet again.

The poems found their place among shop windows, reflections and the passing life of the town. These documentary photographs hold something of those encounters between words, light and the lives moving through them. I hope they are a reminder that even in difficult times, people coming together in heart and spirit are what make a town a home.
